Mining High-Pressure Rubber Hose (Mining Hydraulic Hose)

Mining High-Pressure Rubber Hose (Mining Hydraulic Hose)

Product Overview

Mining high-pressure rubber hose is a critical component in the hydraulic systems of underground coal and metal mines. It is primarily used for power transmission in heavy equipment such as hydraulic roof supports, shearers, and roadheaders, serving as the lifeline for underground equipment operation. Manufactured from special synthetic rubber combined with high-strength steel wire, the mining rubber hose offers outstanding performance including high pressure resistance, excellent pulse resistance, oil resistance, heat resistance, and aging resistance. Specifically designed for the challenging conditions of underground mines with high methane and dust levels, mining hoses also feature flame retardant and anti-static properties, effectively preventing underground fire and gas explosion risks.

Hose Construction

Mining high-pressure rubber hose adopts a multi-layer composite structure, primarily consisting of the following components:

  1. Inner Tube: Made of oil-resistant nitrile rubber (NBR) or special synthetic rubber. It comes into direct contact with the transmission medium, withstands internal pressure, and protects the steel wire reinforcement from medium erosion.

  2. Intermediate Layer: Located between the inner tube and the reinforcement layer, it bonds the steel wire to the inner and outer layers, ensuring structural integrity of the hose.

  3. Steel Wire Reinforcement Layer: This serves as the skeletal material of the hose, composed of high-strength steel wires that are braided or spirally wound. It is the core structure that enables the hose to withstand working pressure. Depending on the pressure rating, the reinforcement layer may consist of 2, 4, or 6 layers of steel wire.

  4. Outer Cover: Made of oil-resistant, abrasion-resistant, and weather-resistant synthetic rubber. It protects the internal steel wire reinforcement from external damage, while also providing flame retardant and anti-static functions suitable for the harsh underground environment.

Product Classification

Based on the reinforcement structure and pressure rating, mining high-pressure rubber hoses are primarily classified into two types:

  • Wire Braided Hose: The reinforcement layer adopts a braided steel wire structure, suitable for medium to high-pressure applications. It is relatively lightweight and offers good flexibility for easy underground installation.

  • Wire Spiral/Helix Hose: The reinforcement layer adopts a spirally wound steel wire structure, suitable for ultra-high pressure applications. It offers superior pulse resistance and is commonly used in main system high-pressure circuits.

Key Performance Features

  • High Pressure Resistance: Working pressure can reach up to 35 MPa or higher, meeting the requirements of high-intensity mining operations such as hydraulic roof supports.

  • Flame Retardant and Anti-static: The outer cover passes flame resistance tests, with surface resistance ≤ 10⁹ Ω, effectively preventing underground gas explosion accidents.

  • Superior Pulse Performance: Capable of withstanding repeated pressure fluctuations in hydraulic systems, with long pulse life and high reliability.

  • Oil and Heat Resistance: Manufactured from special synthetic rubber, offering excellent oil resistance and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +100°C.

  • Flexibility and Fatigue Resistance: Good flexibility and anti-fatigue properties, suitable for frequent movement and bending of underground equipment.

Main Applications

Mining high-pressure rubber hoses are widely used in the following applications:

  • Hydraulic systems of coal mine hydraulic roof supports

  • Hydraulic transmission of longwall shearer systems

  • Heavy mining equipment such as roadheaders and shearers

  • Hydraulic power transmission in mining hydraulic systems

  • Various underground hydraulic pipelines and fluid transmission

Specifications

Common specifications include inner diameter, number of reinforcement layers, working pressure, and length. Hose inner diameters range from 6mm to 102mm. Lengths can be customized according to customer requirements (standard fixed lengths are typically 20m or 50m, with custom lengths available upon request). Working pressure can reach from 10 MPa to over 100 MPa depending on specifications, with burst pressure typically 2.5 to 3 times the working pressure.

Applicable Standards

Mining high-pressure rubber hoses comply with the following major standards:

  • China Coal Industry Standard: MT/T 98-2006 (Steel wire braided/spiral rubber hoses for mining)

  • International Standards: SAE J517, DIN EN 853/856, ISO 1436/3862

  • Safety Certifications: China Mining Safety Certification (MA Mark); MSHA certification required for export to the US market

Precautions for Use

  1. The bending radius during use shall not be less than the specified minimum bending radius to avoid damage to the hose structure or excessive stretching.

  2. Select the correct hose type and specification based on working pressure and environmental conditions; do not misuse or substitute.

  3. Pressure should be increased evenly and slowly during operation; avoid sudden pressure surges that may damage the hose.

  4. Hoses should be carried during relocation and not dragged on the ground to prevent damage to the outer cover that could lead to corrosion of the steel wire reinforcement.

  5. After conveying corrosive fluids, the interior should be cleaned thoroughly to prevent long-term corrosion.

  6. Regularly inspect the hose for outer cover cracking, fitting leakage, and other conditions. Replace immediately if steel wire exposure or localized bulging is observed.
